19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
